Locate Connector

Your RXV 2013-2024 cart has a 4-pin Curtis connector that comes in two varieties:

  • Round connector (4-pin circular)
  • Square connector (4-pin rectangular)
Connector Location: The connector is usually located between the battery and controller cover, under the seat. It has a black protective cap covering it to protect from the elements.
Included Cables: For 2013-2024 RXV models, we include BOTH round and square cables in your KRAKEN case. Use whichever connector type matches what you find under your seat. The other cable can be kept for future use if your cart is updated later.

Round Connector Type:

Square Connector Type:

Protective Cap: Remove the black protective cap from the connector. When done programming, replace the cap to keep the connector protected from the elements.

Connect Device

Connect your Kraken Programmer to the cart connector using the supplied cable.

Important: Ensure the connector is firmly seated. You should feel it click into place. Do not force the connection.

Required Before Programming: The cart must be powered ON and in the NEUTRAL position for the KRAKEN to communicate with the controller.

Confirm Connection

Once connected, the KRAKEN screen will display connection status:

  • "Curtis Connected" - Successful connection
  • Curtis Serial Number and Model Number - Controller identification
  • "Ready" - Device is ready to program

Dealer Advantage: Unlike the User Version, the Dealer Version does NOT require pairing. Simply connect and start programming immediately on any cart.
4

Parameter Interaction

When "Ready" is visible, you can interact with any button to view or modify settings. The keypad layout is identical to the User Version, with the exception that the User Version's "Pair" button is replaced with a "Preset" button on the Dealer Version.

Important: The KRAKEN does not automatically save changes. You must click "Flash" after adjusting any parameter to write the new setting to the controller.
5

Forward & Reverse Speed Adjustment

Speed adjustment is the most common customer request. The KRAKEN gives you complete control over both forward and reverse speeds.

  • Use Increase/Decrease buttons to navigate to Forward Speed or Reverse Speed
  • Once the speed parameter is displayed, use Increase/Decrease to adjust in 0.5 MPH steps
  • Maximum: 25.5 MPH forward / 7 MPH reverse
  • Setting either to 0 MPH disables forward or reverse motion
  • Click "Flash" to save the speed setting
Speed Workflow: After flashing forward speed, reverse speed will automatically appear for adjustment. Set forward → Flash → Set reverse → Flash.
Forward speed set to 25.5 MPH
Forward speed adjusted to maximum 25.5 MPH
Reverse speed set to 7 MPH
Reverse speed adjusted to maximum 7 MPH
Actual Speed with Larger Wheels: The speeds shown (25.5 MPH forward / 7 MPH reverse) are based on stock wheel sizes. Carts with larger wheels will achieve actual speeds around 30 MPH depending on configuration.
6

Fast Acceleration

Fast Acceleration transforms the cart's throttle response, providing sports-car-like acceleration from a stop.

  • Click "Fast Accel" button to view current setting
  • The screen will show either ON or OFF
  • Click "Fast Accel" button again to toggle the setting
  • Click "Flash" to save the change to the controller
OFF Fast Acceleration OFF

Standard acceleration

ON Fast Acceleration ON

Quick, responsive acceleration

Customer Favorite: Fast Acceleration is one of the most requested features. The difference in acceleration is immediately noticeable and dramatically improves the driving experience.
7

Reverse Buzzer Control

The reverse buzzer (backup beeper) can be silenced for a more pleasant driving experience, especially in residential areas.

  • Click "Buzzer" button to view current setting
  • The screen will show either ON or OFF
  • Click "Buzzer" button again to toggle the setting
  • Click "Flash" to save the change to the controller
OFF Buzzer OFF

Silent reverse operation

ON Buzzer ON

Reverse warning sound enabled

Safety Note: Disabling the reverse buzzer removes the audible warning when backing up. Customers should exercise increased caution when reversing.
8

Position Hold

Position Hold eliminates rollback when transitioning from brake to throttle on hills.

  • Click "Pos Hold" button to view current setting
  • The screen will show either ON or OFF
  • Click "Pos Hold" button again to toggle the setting
  • Click "Flash" to save the change to the controller
OFF Position Hold OFF

Cart may roll on inclines

ON Position Hold ON

Holds position on hills

How It Works: When you release the brake on a hill, there's normally a brief moment before the electromagnetic parking brake engages - causing rollback. Position Hold prevents this by maintaining brake pressure until the parking brake fully activates, eliminating any backward roll.
9

Rapid Hill Climb

Rapid Hill Climb increases power output for faster, more aggressive hill climbing performance.

  • Click "RPD Hill" button to view current setting
  • The screen will show either ON or OFF
  • Click "RPD Hill" button again to toggle the setting
  • Click "Flash" to save the change to the controller
OFF Rapid Hill Climb OFF

Standard hill climbing

ON Rapid Hill Climb ON

Enhanced uphill power

How It Works: When enabled, Rapid Hill Climb increases the motor's power output when climbing inclines, allowing the cart to traverse hills more quickly and with greater authority. Ideal for hilly terrain or customers who want maximum climbing performance.

Save Preset (Dealer Feature)

The Save Preset feature is your secret weapon for efficiency. Configure your most commonly requested settings once, then apply them to customer carts in seconds.

How to Save a Preset:

    • Position Hold (ON/OFF based on customer location)
    • Rapid Hill Climb (ON/OFF based on customer location)
  2. After setting all parameters, hold the "Preset" button (bottom left) for 3 seconds

Load Preset on Customer Carts

Once you've saved a preset, you can apply those exact settings to any customer cart in under 30 seconds. This is where the Dealer Version ROI happens.

How to Load a Preset:

  1. Connect KRAKEN to customer's cart
  2. Wait for "Curtis Connected" and "Ready" status
  3. Click the "Preset" button once (don't hold it)
  4. Screen will display "Load Preset"
  5. Click "Flash" to apply all saved settings at once
  6. Screen shows "Loading Preset..." progress
  7. Done! All parameters from your preset are now applied to the customer cart

Dealer ROI: With presets, you can program a complete cart in under 1 minute:
  • Connect to cart (10 seconds)
  • Click "Preset" button (1 second)
  • Click "Flash" (1 second)
  • Wait for preset to load (15 seconds)
  • Disconnect (5 seconds)
At $100 per tune, you can recover your investment in just 5 customer carts. Everything after that is pure profit.
Important: Loading a preset applies ALL saved parameters. If a customer only wants speed adjustment, program manually instead of using the preset feature.

View Faults

The KRAKEN can read and display diagnostic fault codes from the cart's controller, helping you troubleshoot customer issues:

  • Click "Fault" button to view active controller faults
  • The device actively scans in real-time
  • If multiple faults are present, use Increase/Decrease buttons to scroll through them
  • Fault count is displayed (e.g., 1/5, 2/5) showing current fault and total count
  • Resolved faults will disappear automatically from view

Fault diagnostic screen - use Increase/Decrease to cycle through multiple faults
Diagnostic Value: Being able to read fault codes on-site adds tremendous value to your service. Identify controller issues instantly without needing additional diagnostic equipment.

Power Information

This device is powered by the cart. No external batteries are required.

Always Powered: As long as the KRAKEN is connected to your cart via the Curtis connector, it draws power directly from the cart's system.

Finished Programming

Once you've completed your programming session and applied all desired changes:

  • Disconnect the cable from the cart's connector
  • Store the KRAKEN Programmer in its protective case until next use
Best Practice: The device should only remain connected during active programming sessions. Disconnecting after use helps preserve the cart's battery and protects the device's electronics.
