How to Make a 2026-2027 E-Z-GO Liberty 4 or 4F Faster
Why is my new E-Z-GO Liberty so slow?
E-Z-GO limits the Liberty's top speed in the controller's settings. In most cases the cart is capable of more than its factory setting allows, which is why a new Liberty 4 or 4F feels like it hits a wall at full throttle.
Raising that limit has usually meant a trip to the dealer, and paying again every time you want it changed.
Why the new body style Liberty needs its own programmer
E-Z-GO redesigned the Liberty for the 2026 and 2027 model years. Our current programmers for the 2021-2024 Liberty and the 2025 Liberty do not work on the new body style.
This new Kraken is being built specifically for the 2026-2027 Liberty 4 and Liberty 4F.
Liberty 4 and Liberty 4F models it covers
Every electric version of both carts, all of which use E-Z-GO's ELiTE lithium powertrain:
- Liberty 4: Liberty 4 X, Liberty 4 XT and Liberty 4 XTL (two forward and two rear-facing seats)
- Liberty 4F: Liberty 4F X, Liberty 4F XT and Liberty 4F XTL (four forward-facing seats)
Gas Liberty 4 models are not supported.

It works like our other E-Z-GO programmers: plug in, program, unplug. Every setting can be changed again whenever you like.
What affects your real-world top speed
30 MPH is the programmer's maximum speed setting. What you see on the road also depends on tire size and pressure, passenger and cargo weight, and terrain. Larger tires and a fully charged battery help. Hills and heavy loads work against you.

No. Our 2021-2024 Liberty and 2025 Liberty programmers do not work on the redesigned 2026-2027 Liberty 4 and Liberty 4F. Those carts need the new programmer described on this page.
All electric models: the Liberty 4 X, Liberty 4 XT and Liberty 4 XTL, and the Liberty 4F X, Liberty 4F XT and Liberty 4F XTL. They all use E-Z-GO's ELiTE lithium powertrain.
No. This is a programmer for the electric ELiTE lithium models. Gas Liberty 4 models are not supported.

The new body style Express 6 gets its own Kraken. See the 2026-2027 E-Z-GO Express 6 speed programmer.
Laws for golf carts and low-speed vehicles vary by state and city. The Kraken lets you choose any speed up to the maximum, and you can turn it back down just as easily. It's your responsibility to follow your local laws.
