1

Locate Connector

Your TXT 2014+ cart has a 4-pin Curtis connector located under the seat.

Connector Location: The connector is typically located near the controller, under the seat. Look for a 4-pin connector that matches the cable included with your KRAKEN Programmer.

Connector Care: Handle the connector carefully. Ensure it's clean and free of debris before connecting.
2

Connect Device

Connect your Kraken Programmer to the cart connector using the supplied cable.

Important: Ensure the connector is firmly seated. You should feel it click into place. Do not force the connection.
Device Powers On: Once connected, the KRAKEN will power on automatically and begin communicating with the cart's controller. The screen will light up and display connection status.

Cart Power & Position

Required Before Programming: The cart must be powered ON and in the RUN position for the KRAKEN to communicate with the controller.
3

Confirm Connection & Pair Device

If the connection is successful, the screen will display:

► Curtis Connected

► Curtis serial # and model #

► Press Pair to Marry

First Time Setup - Pairing Required: The USER VERSION must be paired (married) to your cart's controller on first use. This locks the device to your specific cart.

Pairing Process:

  1. When you see "Press Pair to Marry" on the screen, click the Pair button
  2. The screen will then show "Press Flash to Pair"
  3. Click the Flash button to complete pairing
  4. You'll see a "Pairing Success" message
  5. The screen will display "Ready" - you can now program

Forward Speed Adjustment

Adjusting your cart's speed is the most common use of the KRAKEN Programmer. You have complete control over forward speed.

How to Adjust Forward Speed:

  1. Press the Parameter button to open the parameter menu
  2. Use Up/Down arrows to navigate to "Forward Speed"
  3. Press Parameter button again to select it

TXT Speed Characteristics: Unlike the RXV model, TXT carts do not have a separate adjustable reverse speed. The TXT uses a fixed reverse speed set by the manufacturer.
Forward speed set to 19.5 MPH
Forward speed adjusted to maximum 19.5 MPH
Actual Speed with Larger Wheels: The speed shown (19.5 MPH) is based on stock golf cart wheel sizes. Customers running larger wheels will see actual speeds around 23-24 MPH depending on their specific configuration.
Safety Reminder: Higher speeds require increased awareness and caution. Always operate your cart safely and in compliance with local regulations.
6

Braking Selection

The TXT model offers three distinct braking profiles to match your driving preference and terrain. This parameter controls how aggressively the cart slows down when you release the accelerator.

How to Select Braking Mode:

  1. Press the Parameter button to open the parameter menu
  2. Use Up/Down arrows to navigate to "Braking Selection"
  3. Press Parameter button again to select it
  4. The current braking mode will be displayed (Coast, Mild, or Heavy)
  5. Use Left/Right arrows (- / +) to cycle through the three modes

Braking Modes Explained:

COAST Braking set to Coast

Coast Mode: Minimal motor braking - cart continues rolling freely when accelerator is released. Best for flat terrain and smooth, relaxed driving.

MILD Braking set to Mild

Mild Mode: Moderate motor braking provides gentle deceleration. Balanced option for mixed terrain and general use.

HEAVY Braking set to Heavy

Heavy Mode: Aggressive motor braking for quick deceleration. Ideal for hilly terrain and when more control is needed.

Choosing the Right Mode:
  • Coast: Choose this for golf course use or flat neighborhoods where you want maximum smoothness
  • Mild: Good all-around choice for varied terrain
  • Heavy: Best for hilly areas or when you want more responsive deceleration control
7

Acceleration Selection

The acceleration selection controls how quickly your cart responds when you press the accelerator pedal. The TXT offers three acceleration profiles to match your driving style.

How to Select Acceleration Mode:

  1. Press the Parameter button to open the parameter menu
  2. Use Up/Down arrows to navigate to "Acceleration Selection"
  3. Press Parameter button again to select it
  4. The current acceleration mode will be displayed (Mild, Fast, or Aggressive)
  5. Use Left/Right arrows (- / +) to cycle through the three modes

Acceleration Modes Explained:

MILD Acceleration set to Mild

Mild Mode: Smooth, gradual acceleration. Most comfortable for passengers and ideal for beginners or golf course use.

FAST Acceleration set to Fast

Fast Mode: Quick, responsive acceleration for everyday driving. Balanced between comfort and performance.

AGGRESSIVE Acceleration set to Aggressive

Aggressive Mode: Maximum acceleration response. Sports-car-like performance from a stop. Most thrilling driving experience.

Choosing the Right Mode:
  • Mild: Best for carrying passengers, golf course use, or when prioritizing comfort
  • Fast: Great all-around choice for daily driving with good performance
  • Aggressive: For enthusiasts who want maximum performance and don't mind firm acceleration
Note on Aggressive Mode: Aggressive acceleration can be startling to passengers unfamiliar with the setting. Consider your typical usage when selecting this mode.
8

Rapid Hill Climb

Rapid Hill Climb increases power output for faster, more aggressive hill climbing performance.

Unpairing (USER VERSION)

To use your USER VERSION KRAKEN on a different cart, you must first unpair it from the current cart. Unpairing reverts the cart back to factory settings and frees the device to pair with another cart.

Unpair Process:

  1. Connect KRAKEN to the cart you want to unpair from
  2. When "Ready" appears, navigate to the Unpair option
  3. Click Unpair button
  4. Click Flash to confirm and execute unpair
  5. Cart reverts to Setting Original (factory settings)
  6. You'll see "Unpair Success" confirmation
  7. Device is now free to pair with a different cart

Step 3: "Unpaired Success" - device is now available to pair with another cart
After Unpairing: The cart is now running on factory original settings. Your KRAKEN is unpaired and can be connected to a different cart to begin the pairing process again.

Power Information

This device is powered by the cart. No external batteries are required.

Always Powered: As long as the KRAKEN is connected to your cart via the Curtis connector, it draws power directly from the cart's system.

Finished Programming

Once you've completed your programming session and applied all desired changes:

  • Disconnect the cable from your cart's connector
  • Store the KRAKEN Programmer in its protective case until next use
Best Practice: The device should only remain connected during active programming sessions. Disconnecting after use helps preserve your cart's battery and protects the device's electronics.
